City Love is a song about falling in love and the start of a relationship in a city, more specifically the song references New York City. John has said that City Love was his first attempt at writing a blues piece, but he feels it was not close to what he was trying to.
City Love is followed by another song called Covered In Rain which picks up where the song leaves off. Covered In Rain is the end of a relationship and the name Lydia appears again in the song.
