Waiting On The World To Change is John's first single off his album Continuum. It became a huge hit and earned John "Best Male Performer" at the 2007 Grammy's.
In the Continuum CD booklet, Pino Palladino, Steven Jordan, Scotty Crowe, and among others, are credit in vocal work on the song.
What John has to say about it:
"It is a political song," he says. "Absolutely. I would be lying to you if I said it wasn't. What's different about the song is that what political means now is completely different. Where do politics end and lifestyle begin? War would be political, but it feels like weather. It's something we know is going on. It's not like I'm singing about writing to congressmen. I'm writing about politics in as much as an artist can write about the emotional qualities of anything. I'm not seeking to change anybody's mind."
"It's the last song written for the album I'm glad it was, its how I knew the album was done, I came up with that song in two days and it was done, and I knew it was the first single."
About the music video:
The music video for the song was directed by Philip Andelman. It shows John walking along the East River, graffiti artists Futura, Tats Cru, and Daze graffiti messages on New York billboards displaying messages relating to the song's message.
